The Public Works & Transportation Department works to improve and maintain the city's infrastructure and services ranging from airports, mass transit, landfill operations, street maintenance, stormwater management and sewage treatment in order to support economic vitality and to provide a safe environment within which our citizens live, work and play. Each division is managed by a division manager and the public is encouraged to contact each directly regarding possible issues within their respective areas of responsibility.
Fundamentally, the department fulfills the role of constructing and maintaining the infrastructure that is used to provide mobility (transit, freight, automobiles, walking, air, biking) for the community, ensure the public safety of its structures, provide services such as landfill and sewage treatment that supports a healthy living environment, and comply with all elements of the Clean Water Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
